NASSAU| Trade Union Congress (TUC) President Obie Ferguson says he intends to sue the Davis administration’s Chief Labour Consultant Bernard Evans and Labour Director Howard Thompson for defamation, accusing them of making “untrue” statements about a meeting and agreement that he says never occurred.

Ferguson claims Evans and Thompson publicly suggested that a productive meeting was held and agreements were reached regarding the redundancy of workers at the Grand Lucayan Resort, where more than 270 employees were terminated last week.

However, Ferguson maintains that no such agreement was reached.

He represents 94 managers among the terminated employees and says the reported comments have left his members “fuming,” as workers allegedly did not receive what they were entitled to following their dismissal.
