NASSAU| The Parliamentary Registration Department has begun issuing biometric voter cards, starting with the constituencies of Golden Isles, St James, and Carmichael. Approximately 2,500 cards are expected to be collected this week, with other constituencies to be gradually included.

Parliamentary Commissioner Harrison Thompson emphasized that the process is transparent and that voters must collect their cards in person using valid government-issued photo identification. The biometric cards are optional and use facial images and fingerprints to enhance security and modernize the registration system.

“I encourage all eligible voters to collect their cards as soon as possible. This reform strengthens our electoral system and ensures fair and efficient elections,” Thompson said.

The project is part of the government’s long-standing efforts to modernize the electoral process, reduce the risk of fraud, and ensure secure voter identification.
