NASSAU| On Friday, August 14, 2026, police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a ten-month-old female infant who was brought to the hospital unresponsive.
According to the initial report, shortly before 3:45 a.m., police were alerted by medical personnel that the infant had been brought to the hospital unresponsive and bleeding from the mouth.
Officers were dispatched to investigate and, upon arrival, spoke with a medical doctor, who reported that a male had brought the child in for medical attention.
Investigators subsequently spoke with the male driver, who told police that he had been travelling along Prince Charles Drive in a 2013 Nissan Versa with his girlfriend’s ten-month-old daughter unrestrained in the front seat. He reported that he suddenly swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle, causing the infant to fall to the floor of the vehicle.
The driver stated that he then took the child to her mother in Nassau Village, where they fed her.
Shortly afterwards, they noticed that the infant appeared to be in distress and immediately transported her to the hospital for medical attention.
Upon arrival at the hospital, medical personnel rushed the infant into the trauma unit, where several medical professionals attended to her. The child reportedly sustained bruising to the left side of her face and head, as well as a fractured femur.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the infant was pronounced deceased at 4:16 a.m.
The investigation remains ongoing.
