Promised a resort on 124 acres of CROWN LAND – then turn around to build ya own house without approvals? WHAT KINDA SHANTY TOWN OPERATION IS THIS IN EXUMA?
EXUMA| When Bob Coughlin on May 3rd, 2026 furloughed 53 Exuma residents (just weeks before a General Election), asking them to March on Parliament (forgetting Parliament had already been dissolved), he hoped to tilt elections against Bahamian progress, growth and national development for all Bahamians.
Just so you know, Bob came to the Bahamas and got approval to develop on our CROWN LAND ( some 124 acres) an eco-friendly resort. So he claimed. That was the deal!
Bob wrote to workers back on May 3rd, 2026 (when he attempted to topple the Davis Government) in a letter the following:
“Turtlegrass can be an economic engine for this community, introducing large groups to the culture and natural beauty that make this place special. We want to continue to build this vision with you – a team of 53 skilled and dedicated Bahamians whose work I deeply respect.”
So he was building an eco-friendly resort – and also letting people go ’cause construction was stopped.
Fast Forward to what we discovered this year (this month in fact). According to Bob’s own hired contractor, Mr Jeffery Clarke, he told the court that sometime in March 2025 (correcting himself first saying 2024) Bob Coughlin changed his plans to construct a resort and was instead building a “private residence” all designed for himself (Bob Coughlin), his family and a few friends. WELL, WHAT IS THIS?
He tells his 53 furloughed staff how he wants them to see this development come through but he has to let them go. He signed an HOA to build an eco-friendly resort, perhaps getting all kinds of duty-free items imported into Exuma under the Hotel Encouragement ACT, but yet the contractor on site tells the courts they are building the man’s house?
OUR WORDS: “Some Glorified Super Shanty Town on 124 acres of Crown Land with the eco-friendly resort idea abandoned?!” These people take Bahamians for fools!
It cannot be one programme for Bahamians waiting since the 1960s to get their Crown Titles and another one for this mega rich man who could roll up in the Bahamas, collect 124 acres for pennies, FIRE BAHAMIANS in the process, and start building a shanty town home for himself and friends? That will not fly around here!
We at Bahamas Press will not stand for it! Now here is something the PAC should look into!
