ACTING PM: Today, as Acting Prime Minister, I had the honour of announcing our 2026 All Bahamas Merit and National Merit Scholarship recipients.
Congratulations to Jayden Sands, a St. Augustine’s College graduate and our 2026 All Bahamas Merit Scholarship recipient. Jayden will receive $35,000 per academic year while pursuing Accounting and Finance at St. John’s University in Minnesota.
Our runner-up, Gary Neilly, a Queen’s College graduate, will receive $25,000 per academic year while pursuing Mathematics at University of The Bahamas. Kendal Brooks, our third top recipient, will receive $20,000 per academic year as a National Merit Scholar.
I am especially encouraged that our top three recipients are young men, demonstrating what is possible through discipline, hard work and a commitment to education.
Congratulations to all 27 National Merit Scholarship recipients. These scholarships are investments in Bahamian talent and in the future of our country.
The Bahamas you will inherit is also the Bahamas you will help to build.
