NASSAU| Carl “BAKERY” Hield was one of the country’s formidable swing forwards in the basketball leagues, and today he has died.
Carl, who was affectionately called “Bakery” in the basketball community, was considered one of the country’s superstars back in the day.
He was a star in the New Providence Amatuer Basketball Association (NPABA) league and represented the country around the world with the national team.
“Bakery” also played in the Bahamas Basketball Athletes In Action (BBAA) classic league that brought somewhat the NBA style of play to The Bahamas.
Carl “Bakery” Hield was also the younger brother of Nehemiah Hield, former lead singer of the World Famous (triple platinum musical band) Baha Men, who now serves as an assistant pastor at The Mount Tabor Church.
Carl “Bakery” Hield was just 64. He was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed by his wider basketball community.
May his soul rest in peace!
