FREEPORT: Police in Grand Bahama have launched an investigation into the death of a 52-year-old male, following an alleged industrial accident at a business establishment on Queen’s Highway.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, 30th August 2026, police received a report from a female who stated that she discovered her cousin unresponsive and wedged between a Honda vehicle and a car crusher at the rear of the business establishment.
Officers responded to the scene and, upon arrival, located the unresponsive male. Emergency Medical Services were contacted and subsequently attended the scene. After examining the male, EMS confirmed that he showed no vital signs of life.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the deceased was known to frequent the property to obtain mechanical parts. On Saturday, 29th August 2026, he was reportedly granted permission to enter the premises to retrieve electrical parts.
After a day passed without any communication from him, family members became concerned. They checked his residence and place of employment but were unable to locate him. They subsequently attended the business establishment, where they discovered that his vehicle was still parked on the property.
After gaining access to the premises and conducting an extensive search, family members located the deceased unresponsive and wedged between a vehicle and a car crusher.
An autopsy will be done to determine the exact cause of death.
