Bahamas Educators Managerial Union (BEMU) headed by President Stephen McPhee, representing public school principals, vice-principals, and other educational administrators withdrew their labour from schools across the country today.
The BEMU decided to sit out of school on the second day of classes in what they complain as having grievances. Mind you, the administrators had all summer to air out these disputes, but today, they decided to cause a disruption to the children.
Teachers were in class ready to teach and children ready to learn, but the BEMU decided to hold everyone hostage; inconveniencing children and parents and guess why?
The President, Stephen Mcphee, is vexed with the Davis Government for not selecting his wife to become the President of The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI). McPhee’s wife is the Vice President of BTVI who by all recommendations is described as not a right fit for the presidency.
We know with our deep intel McPhee was overheard begging for his wife to be the President at BTVI at the highest levels of Government. And as a result the entire education system is now held at gunpoint! YOU CANNOT HAVE IT ALL STEPHEN!
Long before the general elections vetting decisions for the top job at BTVI had selected Ms Keyshan Bastian, who many have described as a highly competent, professionally talented expert in technical vocational education with high public experience in organizational administration.
Now we ga roll with the best or we should hire someone whose wife needs a promotion? Stephen McPhee, your move today does not reflect the best of the Bahamas. This is sad!
Yinner cannot be playing with the education of children like this!
