Stefan Germaine Davis, 55, killed in car crash in Miami
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A Bahamas artist who was killed in a car crash in northwest Miami-Dade on Wednesday is being remembered by his friends for his talent and big heart.
Stefan GermaineDavis, 55, was the man who died after a crash involving a Miami-Dade deputy and a suspect wanted by the U.S. military happened near Northwest 51st Terrace and Northwest 33rd Avenue.
Surveillance video captured a car speeding through the area before the violent impact.
“I heard a boom,” said Norman Bradley, who was nearby at the time. Other video angles show the force of the collision.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office told Local 10 that deputies with the Robbery Intervention Unit were conducting a traffic stop when 21-year-old Luis Manuel Perez hit the gas and took off.
Prime Minister Philip Davis KC expressed sadness following the news of the passing of Stefan. The Prime Minister wrote: “Ann and I are heartbroken to learn of Stefan Davis’ passing. Stefan had a remarkable gift, and it was always a joy to watch him bring our stories, our culture and our people to life through his art.
“His passing is a tremendous loss for our country and our creative community. We extend our love and deepest condolences to his children, family, friends and everyone whose life he touched.
“Rest peacefully, Stefan. You gave The Bahamas something beautiful, and we will always remember you.”
