Bob Coughlin must return our 124 acres of Crown Land that he got for a project that never happened!

EXUMA| Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper and MP for The Exumas and Ragged Island said it best when describing the likes of Bob Coughlin, who came to the Bahamas and now suggests he came to SAVE US just like Columbus.
DPM Cooper told Parliament back in April 2025 how a smear campaign with AI generated material was “driven by one Mr. Bob Coughlin, an American businessman, the principal of Turtle Grass Resorts, a project approved for Sampson Cay in the Exumas….”
The DPM added that the attack was “…nothing new. These tactics – familiar to anyone who remembers previous smear campaigns against the PLP portrayed as environmental advocacy – are designed to weaponize social media, sow public distrust and discredit public servants.”
To this day in fake stories across media in the country, Coughlin continues to be presented as the “developer of an eco-friendly resort”.
He argued that Yntegra’s Sampson Cay project threatened that resort and tried to dictate what his neighbour should build and where its facilities should go.
Mind you Coughlin collected on a Heads of Agreement some 124 acres of Crown Land but, by the time he was attacking political leaders with deep fake AI generated content, he had already ditched his eco-friendly resort idea and started building a private home on the land without any approvals.
Coughlin’s said project that he supposedly is defending in public, according to Jeffery Clarke’s testimony (his lead man on the ground), he is no longer building; the said eco-friendly resort he was granted permission for by the Government is the project he said he intended to deliver.
Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper had previously warned of people who believe they can dictate to the Bahamian Government what should be approved in its own country.
This latest revelation by the member of Coughlin’s team at the Town Planning Appeal hearings last week gives that warning by DPM Cooper a fresh voice.
Coughlin cannot expect Bahamian professionals and regulators to bend to his demands while the public is left with a misleading account of his own plans.
The issue here is straightforward. Bob Coughlin promised a resort. His own worker and lead project team member described a plan for a private residence. And, for more than a year, Coughlin allowed the resort story to do the work for him. Bahamians should see that bait and switch for what it is.
We need all our 124 acres back, Bob! Give us back our things before we take it!
We report yinner decide!
