Nassau, Bahamas — Excellent Police work by officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) has struck another blow against organized drug trafficking in The Bahamas with the seizure of a large amount of marijuana and the arrest of five persons on Thursday 14th January 2016.

Reports are that sometime during the evening of Wednesday 13th January 2016, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit commenced a major operation in Eastern, New Providence. The operation culminated shortly after 6:00am on Thursday 14th January 2016, when DEU officers descended on a residence on Eastern Road, where they searched a Dodge Caravan and uncovered 10 crocus sacks containing 341 pounds of marijuana.

Four adult males and one adult female who are believed to be members of a major organized drug trafficking ring were subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
