WANTED SUSPECT IN CUSTODY
On Sunday 5th June, 2011 police issued a wanted bulletin for 20 year old EDWIN CUNNINGHAM aka “C.J” referenced to Murder. On Monday 6th June, 2011 sometime around 6:25 pm the suspect was handed over to police by a family member at the CENTRAL DETECTIVE UNIT where he was subsequently arrested. Active police investigations continue.

POLICE CONTINUE TO TICKET TRAFFIC OFFENDERS
Police here in New Providence continue to issue traffic tickets to motorists who fail to adhere to traffic rules. During the past week, police throughout the capital cited one hundred and thirty-six (136) drivers for various traffic infractions and placed seventy-eight (78) matters before the Traffic Court. Some of the offences for which persons were cited for included: Unlicensed and Uninspected vehicle, driving on a Closed Street, Failing to keep left, failing to notify change of ownership, Failure to have windows of transparent view and Failure to have rear plate on vehicle well illuminated.

POLICE INVESTIGATES STABBING INCIDENT
Police are investigating a stabbing incident that has left a 32 year old male in stable condition in hospital. Police reports indicate that the incident occurred shortly before 4:00 am on Tuesday 7th April, 2011. Information received that a male and female were walking on Virginia Street when they were approached by a light skin male armed with a knife. It is reported that the males got into an altercation which resulted in the 32 year old being stabbed multiple times to the body. The victim was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he is detained in stable condition. POLICE ARREST TWO FOR FIREARM AND AMMUNITION
In two separate incidents police arrested two (2) males after they were both found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. In the first incident, officers of the Mobile Division arrested a 21year old male after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. Sometime around 10:10 pm on Sunday 5th June, 2011 officers of the Mobile Division acting on information proceeded to Graham Drive, Yellow Elder Gardens where they observed a male acting suspiciously. It is reported that as the officers approached the suspect, he produced a firearm and fired gunshots in the direction of the officers. Police returned fire and later arrested the suspect without injuries. Police recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition from the Graham Drive resident.

In the second incident, officers of the Grove Police Station arrested a 28 year old male of Pinewood Gardens after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition.
The arrest reportedly occurred sometime around 1:00 am on Monday 6th June, 2011. Preliminary reports indicate that officers of the Grove Police Station, acting on information proceeded to Tonique Williams Darling Highway where they observed a male acting suspiciously. It is reported that the male on seeing the police ran and was observed throwing an object into nearby bushes. Officers pursued the male, caught up with him and conducted a search of the area where the object was thrown and recovered a handgun and ammunition. Police investigations into both matters continue.

POLICE INVESTIGATES ALLEGED DROWNING
Police are investigating an alleged drowning report that has left a 3 year old boy dead. According to police reports the incident occurred sometime around 5:00 pm on Sunday 5th June, 2011. Information received that the toddler was attending a function with family members at a residence in Pinewood Gardens when the incident occurred. Police are investigating and appealing to members of the public to pay close attention to your children at all times. If attending an event, ensure that a responsible adult is always supervising the children, especially toddlers.

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENTS
Police are investigating two (2) separate shooting incidents that has left a male and a female in hospital in stable condition In the first incident, police are investigating a shooting incident that has left a 52 year old female in stable condition in hospital. Police reports indicate that the incident occurred sometime around 3:30 am on Monday 6th June, 2011 at a residence at Fritz Lane off East Street. Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was at home when she was approached by a male and subsequently shot multiple times to the stomach. The victim was taken to hospital via EMS personnel. Police are following significant leads into this matter and continue their investigation.

In the second incident, police are investigating a shooting incident that has left a male with gunshot injury to the buttocks. Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred sometime around 12:25 am on Monday 06th June, 2011. Information received that the 18 year old male was in the area of Adderley Street off Bernard Road when he was approached by a male who shot him in the buttocks. The victim was taken to hospital via private vehicle where he remains in stable condition.

WHAT EVERY CITIZEN SHOULD KNOW: Any person who is found driving, riding or being in charge of any vehicle in any public place or street and refuses to give way, or they willfully, hinder or interrupt the free passage of any other vehicle shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of not less than five hundred dollars but not exceeding one thousand dollars.   1. We all need to appreciate and thank our police. Their job is difficult and thankless. Too many of us jump to critize them but never stop to praide them for a job well done. They are out there performing DANGEROUS jobs while we are in our beds sleeping. Thanks.
