‘A Diamond In The ROUGH’! Memories of Lady T.

She would ask persons to go and sing for people (friends) who were either sick or ill. Or anyone who needed some lifting up in their spirit. Much was never said about her secret maneuvers to assist the aged in the country; Lady T was at the centre of scores of charity organizations.

We remember once we all went to the old persons’ home. Lady T called singers to meet her there to minister to those housed there. She would say, “Meet me such and such place.” And there she would be, reading stories to the folks, singing and laughing. Giving her time, talents and treasures to God’s precious pearls.

Lady Turnquest was very special us. She was independent, free spirited, grounded in sound but firm ideologies. She was no weak woman. She was strong willed and strong minded. Many times she would get in her car and escape Mount Fitzwilliam [Government House] and go and “hang” out at the Ranfurly Home and do such things.

The Bahamas has lost ‘A Diamond In The ROUGH’! And heaven has reclaimed a soul shared with the earth. BP has lost a wonderful Lady to us all.

Rest eternal grant unto her O Lord! Amen…

Sing Me To Heaven (for a gracious Lady ..Edith Lady Turnquest – RIP
Sing Me To Heaven….
(will send you the youtube link)

In my heart’s sequestered chambers lie truths stripped of poets’ gloss
Words alone are vain and vacant, and my heart is muteIn response to aching silence, memory summons half-heard voices
And my soul finds primal eloquence, and wraps me in song

If you would comfort me, sing me a lullaby
If you would win my heart, sing me a love song
If you would mourn me and bring me to God,
sing me a requiem,
sing me to Heaven.

Touch in me all love and passion, pain and pleasure
Touch in me grief and comfort, love and passion, pain and pleasure.

Sing me a lullaby,
a love song
a requiem.
Love me, comfort me, bring me to God
Sing me a love song,
sing me to Heaven
