NASSAU| King Charles III arrived in The Bahamas shortly after 4 p.m. today, with senior government officials on hand to welcome the British monarch to the country.

Governor General Dame Cynthia Pratt, Prime Minister Philip Davis, Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper and other senior government officials were among those gathered at Lynden Pindling International Airport to receive the King as his aircraft touched down.

The ceremonial welcome featured performances by the Royal Bahamas Police Force and Royal Bahamas Defence Force pop bands on the airport tarmac.

Following the official welcome, King Charles was then escorted to Clifford Park, where he is scheduled to attend a youth rally expected to draw approximately 5,000 students from public and private schools.

The rally forms part of the King’s visit, which is expected to include engagements highlighting young people and their contributions to Bahamian society.

The visit marks King Charles’ first trip to The Bahamas since ascending to the British throne following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022.

The monarch is scheduled to remain in The Bahamas until Thursday, with a series of official engagements planned during his stay.
