Bahamas Department of Inland Revenue Moves to Carmichael Road

Nassau, Bahamas –The Ministry of Finance advises the public of the merger and new location of the Business Licence, Real Property, Excise Tax, First Home Owner Exemption and Value Added Tax Departments within the Department of Inland Revenue effective Monday, July 13th, 2015. This is the introduction of the establishment of the Central Revenue Administration (CRA).

As a result, Inland Revenue services – Business Licence and Real Property Tax – currently located at Charlotte House on Shirley Street will close on Thursday, July 9th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. to begin the moving process.

The new site of the Department of Inland Revenue is located on Carmichael and Palmetto Roads.

The amalgamation and move is in an effort to support:

– modern tax system

– approach to tax administration

– relations with taxpayers

Taxpayers will be able to receive services from both revenue collection agencies at one location making it more convenient for customers.

To locate the building from the east, head west on Carmichael Road passing the traffic lights at Faith Avenue. Continue west approximately a quarter-mile until you arrive at The Shops at Carmichael Plaza on the right. Turn right into the plaza where Scotia Bank and Burger King are located. The new site of VAT and Inland Revenue will be straight ahead.

To locate the building from the west, head east on Carmichael Road passing the government’s Flamingo

Gardens Clinic and post office. Continue east and take the second left into The Shops at Carmichael Plaza where Scotia Bank and Burger King are located. The new site of VAT and Inland Revenue will be straight ahead.
