Scenes from that wreckage following Sunday’s plane crash.

NASSAU| HUMAN remains have been discovered in the wreckage of the Piper PA-32 aircraft flown by missing Bahamian pilot Clayton Patterson Smith, Minister of National Security Myles LaRoda has confirmed.

We are now being told by Minister Myles LaRoda that the wreckage located on Tuesday, and that the Commodore of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force is expected to provide a more detailed account of the discovery.

He extended prayers to Smith’s family and loved ones, noting that the pilot was well known and respected in his community.

The discovery comes after three days of desperate searching by family members, volunteers, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, and the United States Coast Guard.

Captain Smith, 53, a father-of-three from Exuma, disappeared on Sunday while travelling from Exuma to New Providence to collect a passenger and a part for tractor machinery.

He told his family he expected to be gone for a few hours and would return later that night.
