  1. BREAKING NEWS FOR ALL WORKERS ON PARADISE ISLAND:- Workers, motorists and visitors using the Paradise Island bridges are being strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and care as they travel along those overpasses.

    The Department of Meteorology has advised that as of 1 pm. Thursday, October 25, 2012 until 2 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2012, New Providence will be experiencing tropical storm forced winds in excess of 40mph, resulting in reduced visibility due to heavy rains and thunderstorms.

    Please disregard any earlier advisory announced in reference to using the Paradise Island bridges.

    BREAKING NEWS ALERT >>>> Clearing Banks Association Advisory Tropical Storm Sandy

    Due to the impending threat of Tropical Storm Sandy all Clearing Banks will be closed on Thursday, October 25

    and Friday, October 26, 2012.

    Normal banking hours will resume

    Monday, October 29, 2012.

  3. BTC is preparing to open its Hurricane Command Center as early as Thursday morning in order to monitor its telecommunications network around the country.

    BTC’s Hurricane Preparedness Committee activated the Hurricane Preparedness Plan earlier in the week, and began preparations nationwide to try and secure its network.

    The company will begin ceasing operations at various locations as early as Thursday Morning.

    Offices in the South East and Central Bahamas – which includes Inagua, Mayguana, Crooked Island, Acklins and Ragged Island, as well as Exuma, Cat Island, Rum Cay, San Salvador and Long Island.

    Those locations will remain closed through Friday.

    Offices and Retail stores in the North West Bahamas – which includes Grand Bahama, Bimini, Abaco, The Berry Islands, Andros, Eleuthera and New Providence – will close from Noon on Thursday October 25th and remain closed on Friday October 26th.

    The contact center – CALL BTC – 225-5282 – will remain opened with an emergency staff to deal with all emergencies and reports of outages.
