PM DAVIS: On Friday past, I saw Steven for what would be the final time. As we went our separate ways, I thanked him for his service and saluted him. I could never have imagined that it would be the last time I would see him.

Since learning of his passing, my thoughts have returned to that moment. Life gives us no warning when a simple goodbye will become a lasting memory. I am grateful that our final exchange was one of respect and appreciation.

Steven was a good and decent man. He carried himself with dignity, kindness and a quiet commitment to service. His presence was always appreciated, and his passing is deeply painful.

Ann and I extend our deepest condolences to his family, his friends and his colleagues throughout the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

Take your rest Steven. It was an honour to know you, and an honour to salute you one final time.
