Bahamians now under death threats from Cuban Democracy Movement Group!

Nassau, Bahamas — The United Nations Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children (also referred to as the Trafficking Protocol), an international agreement attached to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (CTOC) entered into force on 25 December 2003.

This protocol is one of three which supplement the CTOC.[5]. The Trafficking Protocol is the first global, legally binding instrument on trafficking in over half a century, and the only one with an agreed-upon definition of trafficking in persons.

One of its purposes is to facilitate international cooperation in investigating and prosecuting such trafficking.

Here in the Bahamas a number of Cuban citizens have of late been facilitated by groups based in the Miami Florida area whose aim it is to smuggle persons between Cuba and America.

At the centre of this is a tiny island nation called the Bahamas that has felt the wrath of such illegal groups who continue to smuggle and traffic persons into the United State under the disguise of “political refugees”.

Democracy Movement is one such terror organization that, since several persons were intercepted by Bahamian authorities, has raised its ugly head against the Bahamas, seeking to damage the economy and livelihood of the country by protests against the Bahamas at the ports of entry in the South Florida.

The Bahamas is a signatory to such treaties on international crime which the United Nations believes should be punished and stopped! This week when Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie addresses the General Assembly in New York, he should raise the matter and tell the world what suppressive groups like the Democracy Movement have done to fight our tiny island as they continue to breach international law to facilitate their wicked and lawless schemes.

Fact is Mr. Christie has no choice but to seek the UNITED NATION’s help along with the United States to crush such terrorist organizations like Democracy Movement that continues to facilitate the lawless, rejected culture of human trafficking between Cuba and America.

No terrorist should be allowed to operate on the borders of the United States and seek passage by making threats against citizens of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

Bahamians in the South Florida area are now under death threats from the same lawless Democracy Movement and we know they will stop at nothing to keep their illegal operations in tact.

The Prime Minister must bring the world’s attention to this growing vexatious crisis and solidly seek the world’s help. If such groups can function in the US, then it is clear they would stop at nothing to break international law.
