Statement by the Hon. Tommy Turnquest, Leader of Government Business in the House of Assembly:

The Government fully intended to proceed today with the debate and passage of amendments to the Business Licence Act. The Government discovered late Tuesday evening that a subsequent amendment to the Local Government Act would also be necessary to proceed with the debate.

The amendment to the Local Government Act was not available at the time of this morning’s sitting of Parliament.

As the Government intends to debate and pass both sets of amendments concurrently due to their being interconnected, Parliament was suspended until January 19, 2011.

The Government intends to debate and pass the amendments to the Business Licence Act and the Local Government Act at that sitting.

Editor’s NOTE: It is still highly unacceptable to agree with the fact that the Government refused, for the first time in the history of the Parliament, to not allow members to deliver holiday greetings to the People of the country.

Hubert Ingraham left the House of Assembly without telling the people he serves Merry Christmas.

For decades records of the House would record members conveying a message of well-wishes to the people of the country. Has the WUTLESS leadership in this country gone MAD? LORD HELP US!

  1. Please lets not attack each other here. The issue is with this weak cabinet we have. One man makes all the decisions for this country and that is simply wrong. Tommy T. is a joke and carries no real political weight. He is not too bright and not much of a charismatic politician either. He is just blah! No energy about him at all. But then again that is to be expected when you are lead by a boorish, bully who brow beats you every chance he gets.

  2. Newsman bend over backwards and kiss your own Arse!!! ingRum & cohorts are the traitors in the Bahamas today so stop ya shitttttttttttttt!!!

    • Sounds really intresting, can you tell us how thats done? Bending over and kiss one’s own Arse? Also do you wear any lipstick? It sounds like having your head up the Arse of a political party leader is not helping quell your anger. How do I make this clear to such a brainwashed fool .. hmmm .. the PLP and FNM dont mean ANYTHING to me, they are both the same and both full of WUTLESS people, and their followers are an equal bunch of dumb inbreds. That clear enough for you? Back to the unions, those scumbags actually CAN kiss my Arse!

Well there is clearly one group of sick individuals responsible for the entire thing – the Unions and their lame attempt to cause mayhem and anarchy in this nation. If I was the leader of this great country all of the traitors [aka Union Protesters] would be sitting on some deserted island learning what life is like without people at their every beck and call. However Lame TT or PC or HI is that does not give these terrorist union punks the right to do as they please without consequence – they have now made enemies with the Bahamian people.

  4. Do they think Bahamians are ASS HOLES???? We have common sense. At least be men about what you did today. You ran from the Bahamian people. Do you think we will forget that? Deal with it. You made your bed, lay in it….We will not forget…..

  5. That was exactly their excuse – one of the Amendments they wanted to debate was not ready. So we said, OK your agenda is clear, lets have our entitled opposition day – the PM said no

  6. If the Government was not prepared to proceed on their agenda, when the Opposition requested for Opposition Day as entitled under the House of Assembly rules they refused and suspended anyway. They were scared to debate, scared to face the music.
