Another major House Breaking Ring taken down by police

Nassau, Bahamas — Police at the Western Division, including Cable Beach and Lyford Cay Stations uncovered what is believed to be a major House Breaking Ring. It is believed that this ring operated in Lyford Cay Community and their activities may have dated back as far as two years.

On Sunday 6th February, 2011, officers from the Lyford Cay Police Station, armed with a Search Warrant, traveled to Nassau Village where they executed a search on a dwelling home.  The search revealed a quantity of lap tops, computers, watches, jewelry, silver ware, television sets, colognes, figurines, hundreds of dollars, personal effects, household items and a variety of other items.  While Police have not yet been able to determine the exact value of these items, officers are satisfied that they are worth thousands of dollars.

Currently, two persons are in police custody and others are being actively pursued.  At the appropriate time, persons who may have been victims of thefts in the Lyford Cay Community will be invited to view these items with a view to assisting in identifying their properties.

Special commendations are also given to those members of the public that assisted in this significant and notable breakthrough.

ARMED ROBBERY at VIP CHINESE RESTAURANT

Sometime around   8:40 pm on Friday 4th February, 2011 police received information of an armed robbery at VIP Chinese Restaurant, Nassau Street.  Police responded and information received that two (2) masked males both of whom were allegedly armed with handguns entered the establishment demanding cash.  The culprits robbed the establishment of an undetermined amount of cash and fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.  Police are investigating.

ARMED ROBBERY on Watlings Street

Sometime around 6:03 am on Saturday 5th February, 2011 police received information of an armed robbery at Watlings Street.  Police responded and information received that a male was at Watlings Street when he was approached by two males both of whom were allegedly armed with handguns and demanded cash.  The culprits robbed the victim of an undetermined amount of cash, a cell phone and a boat engine and fled the area.  Police are investigating.

ARMED ROBBERY at the Lolli Pop Bar

Sometime around 8:00 pm on Saturday 5th February, 2011 police received information of an armed robbery at the Lolli Pop Bar, Wulff Road and Collins Avenue.  Police responded and information received that two males wearing dark hooded jackets, one of whom was allegedly armed with a handgun entered the establishment and demanded cash. The culprit robbed the establishment of an undetermined amount of cash and an employee of her cell phone and laptop and fled the area in an unknown direction.  Police are investigating.

ARMED ROBBERY ON SCHOOL LANE

Sometime around 11:55 pm on Saturday 5th February, 2011 police received information of an armed robbery at Baillou Hill Road and School Lane.  Police responded and information received that a male was in the area of Baillou Hill Road and School Lane when he was approached by another male allegedly armed with a knife.  It is reported the culprit robbed the victim of an undetermined amount of cash, his cell phones and an iPod and fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. Police are investigating.

FIREARM ARREST at Larry’s Pub on Cordeaux Avenue

Sometime around 2:00 am on Sunday 6th February 2011 officers of Rapid Strike acting on information proceeded to Larry’s Pub Cordeaux Avenue where they conducted a search of a male and recovered a handgun with ammunition. The 30 year old of Palm Beach Street was taken into custody.  Police investigations continue.

ARMED ROBBERY ON CRAWFORD STREET

Sometime around   6:40 am on Sunday 6th February, 2011 police received information of an armed robbery at Crawford Street, Oakes Field.  Police responded and information received that a male was at home when he was awoken by three (3) people, two males and a female, demanding cash.  It is reported that the culprits, one of whom was allegedly armed with a handgun tied the victim up and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash, jewelry and a cell phone.  The culprits fled the area in an unknown direction.  Police are investigating.
