Grand Bahama Power Statement after Tornado Activity

Freeport, Bahamas – 8:30 PM UPATE: GBPC is aware that Power was recently lost in Greening Glade, Lucayan Knoll, Lowenmill, Arden Forest, Fortune Hills, Smiths Point, Port Lucaya Yatch Club, Tamarind Development, Kings Rd, Harbour House Towers, Taino Beach & Bell Channel as a result of a bush fire from downed electrical wires.

6:30 pm: The following is a statement made on the Grand Bahama Power Company’s Facebook page on Sunday, September 10:
With confirmed tornado activity on the island, GBPC will stand down all crews. The safety of our crews and the public is our #1 priority. We advise residents to remain indoors until the “All Clear” is given by NEMA.

At this time, crews will not respond to outages until it is safe to do so. Further updates will be given as they become available.

BP understands the Local Government managing these developments are using the BTC Offices on Grand Bahama and Eleuthera to keep communication throughout those islands with officials.
