A BP BREAKING NEWS ALERT:
Nassau, Bahamas – The 2011 Carifta Games was thrown into further doubt on Thursday night, when the Bahamas Association of Athletic Association (BAAA), decided at a meeting that they would not be hosting the event.
According to a highly placed trackalerts.com source, the Bahamas decision to not host the Games, was because with less than three months to go, they have not yet received a written commitment from North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC).
“Even though they have given a verbal commitment, efforts to obtain a written commitment has not be forthcoming, thus the decision to withdraw from hosting the Games,” said the source.
It is believed that Trinidad & Tobago, who had earlier distanced themselves from hosting the Games after St. Kitts and Nevis pulled out last year, may now stage the event for the over 700 Caribbean athletes.
No word from the Government has come on the matter.
