Nassau Bahamas:  If it’s summer and if it’s James Catalyn & Friends, then it’s time for “Summer Madness”!

James Catalyn & Friends have been delighting audiences at the Dundas Centre for the Performing Arts with their annual “Summer Madness” revues for the past twenty-seven years, and “Summer Madness” Revue 2010, the twenty-eighth revue, will be just as hilarious and thought-provoking as the past revues.

Taking a satirical look at typical, topical and timely topics, “Summer Madness” Revue 2010, covers the gamut from Politics, the Church, Gambling, the Press, and Immigration, among many other topics, including the Gated Communities.  Director Omar Williams said that audiences need to be “up to date with what’s happening in the country and what’s hot in the news”.  “James Catalyn has a unique way of looking at the facts as reported in the press and adding his own comedic touch and insight to the situations.  He says from the stage, things that others are thinking about and would like to say.  He invokes us to look at ourselves and our situations and not take ourselves too seriously and to be more relaxed.” Mr. Williams said.

“Some corns will be mashed and bunions stepped on, maybe even a few noses will be out of joint, but for the past twenty-seven years I have been trying to get Bahamians to look at themselves and laugh at themselves. It is better for us to “laugh at wesef” than to have others do it to us”, Catalyn says.

Cast members for this production are Stephanie Braynen, Shireen Hanna, Valerie Lynes-Pinder, Rachel Rolle, Veronica Toppin, Eric Adderley, Godfrey Basden, Neil Cleare, Blaize Darling, Chigozie Ijeoma and Lamorn Miller and introduces Andrea Pratt and Lutaniel Russell.
