Nassau, Bahamas — As part of continuing cooperation under the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI), the U.S. Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) section and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) partnered with the Royal Bahamas Police Force to provide Tactical Medical Training to 39 Royal Bahamas Police Force Officers from January 21-22, 2015.

DEA and affiliated subject matter experts facilitated the advanced training, which provided officers engaged in Operation Bahamas, Turks and Caicos (OPBAT) operations with the latest tactical and lifesaving techniques through simulation and role-playing exercises.

The course was designed to mitigate injuries and prevent the loss of life between the time of injury and the arrival of emergency medical technicians.

Participants stated the course was “excellent” and added that it provided officers with real-world techniques that they would use during interdiction operations.
